Philippe d'Orléans, "La prison c'est encore la terre de France", 1890 Folded fan, double sheet of paper shows a fleur-de-lis in a bright sun setting on the horizon. To highlight, a quote from Philippe d'Orléans "La prison est moins dure/ que l'exil, car la prison c'est encore / la terre de France", and his photographic portrait on the right. On the reverse, the arms of France among a seedling of fleurs-de-lis. On the right "Published by Le Panache/ Revue royaliste/ illustrated/ 42 rue du Bac Paris". Engraved and gilded bone frame. Bélière. H.t. 22 cm/ H.f.12 cm (TBE)NB: returned to France despite the laws of exile, Philippe d'Orléans (1869-1926), the eldest son of the Count of Paris, was imprisoned in Clairvaux prison in February 1890. He was pardoned in May by President Sadi Carnot and deported to the border.
