Three collars, East Devon, spindles, 2nd half 19th century. Two large, berthe-type collars, one decorated with sprays of foliage, including clover leaves, and rose blossoms with hearts worked in a variety of stitches typical of the production in this region of England, the other very finely worked and decorated with roses, daisies, tulips, thistles, bunches of grapes and various foliage, the motifs linked by a mesh network. Creamy white cotton. Creamy-white cotton (both in good condition, washed) and a third collar with branches of thistles and roses inscribed in cartouches and linked by a network of various stitches. (accidents, washed, pale stains) We've also included a document using the same technique as the second collar, with rose sprays, large bells, clover leaves and star-shaped flowers (good condition, washed).
