Large octagonal box with wooden core, covered with embossed, openwork and chased silver plates decorated with large vases from which foliage and flowers emerge. Large vase-shaped grip and decorative element on the vase and baluster lid. Indo-Portuguese, Goa, 17th century H.: 40 cm - W.: 32 cm 18th-century green silk lining (missing decorative elements, minor accidents) This surprisingly shaped box is built with an exotic wood structure covered with silver plates. The collection of the Mayflower Antiques of London holds an octagonal silver box of the same production, with rich scrolls and buttons on the lid marking the corners.
