Suite of twenty-two pelican damask napkins, circa 1830-50. Linen damask with rich, high-contrast decoration, center with pelican feeding its young, wreath of roses and their buds, flowers, foliage and exotic fruits, border with foliage scrolls, bunches of grapes, ears of wheat, and eagles with wings spread under a fruit basket, large palm trees in the spandrels. LS (?) monogram embroidered in the center in white and in slight relief. Small marking number embroidered in a corner. Dim. 92 x 81 cm (good condition) We enclose two other napkins of the same design (small holes).
