TABLE SERVICE OF PRINCE JOACHIM MURAT (1767-1815). - Lot 398
TABLE SERVICE OF PRINCE JOACHIM MURAT (1767-1815). Manufacture Darte, Paris, circa 1805. Hard porcelain round presentation bowl decorated with a large frieze of alternating palmettes, foliage and rosebuds in dull gold on an orange ground framed by two gold fillets. The base is decorated with gold water leaves and the interior with a two-tone gold rosette. Time wear to the gilding, as is. No visible marks. H. 12.5 cm - Diam. 24.5 cm. History: This piece comes from the dessert service ordered and delivered for Prince Joachim Murat shortly after his marriage to the Emperor's sister, Caroline Bonaparte. Napoleon I, Caroline Bonaparte (1782-1839). It is very likely that this children's model was intended for their eldest son, Prince Achille Murat (1808-1815). The entire set of tableware was destined for the Hôtel Thellusson, then the Hôtel de l'Élysée (now the Palais de l'Élysée), successive residences of the Murat family in Paris.
