Gilt bronze and black patina bronze "au bon sauvage" clock d - Lot 390
Gilt bronze and black patina bronze "au bon sauvage" clock depicting a young woman in a feathered skirt, wearing the dial on her head, topped with a bow, in chased gilt bronze and white enamel with Arabic numerals. Her arms are adorned with bracelets and her head is topped with feathers. It stands on an oval-shaped base with claw feet, in gilt bronze with putti and a covered vase. Mid 19th century. Height: 46 cm - Width: 22.9 cm - Depth: 13 cm. (Probably missing an element). A preparatory drawing, deposited in 1807 by the bronze-maker Croutelle, is in the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris. Several identical examples are known, including one from the former Pascal Izarn collection.
