VICAR (VICTOR CARLOS ARRIAGADA RIOS, 1934-2012)... - Lot 370 - Coutau-Bégarie
VICAR (VICTOR CARLOS ARRIAGADA RIOS, 1934-2012) / DISNEY STUDIOS DONALD DUCK, THE AUTOR (D7300). India ink and white gouache on paper for plate 11 of this story first published in 1984 in Denmark. 48x34.7 cm. Small thumbtack holes at upper margin, slight delamination of the two half-plates. Vicar, who was born in Chile and worked in Spain from the '60s onwards, was considered one of Donald Duck's best cartoonists, praised by Carl Barks himself, whose style he closely resembled. He was commissioned by Disney to draw Donald from 1971 (for the Scandinavian license, from Spain and then from his own studio in Chile, the Vic Art Studio).
