Rare triptych in bonded-thread embroidery, Marianna Elmo, Italy, Lecce, 18th century, polychrome silk threads and metallic threads bonded with wax on a cardboard background, the skin tones painted in tempera on silk satin. Each signed Marianna Elmo lower left, 26 x 19 cm. Superb frame in molded wood, carved in gold and lacquered in black, decorated with cherubs, pilasters and foliage, 46 x 81 cm. A different collaged-wire painting of the patron saint of Naples is preserved in the Chapel of the Royal Palace in Naples. Bibl.: Ricamata pittura, op. cit. No. 9.
