Félix Alexandre Parc Monceau, Paris, circa 1860 Folded fan, the skin-lined paper sheet, painted in gouache with a view of the famous naumachie of the Duc de Chartres' former estate, Parc Monceau in Paris. Monceau in Paris. The fan is contemporary with the park's restoration in 1861. The reverse is decorated with forget-me-not flowers and gilded branches. Signed lower left "Alexandre" for Félix Alexandre, a prestigious fan-maker and supplier to European royal and imperial courts in the second half of the 19th century. The number "BL" on the right and left. Finely cut and engraved white mother-of-pearl mount with rose and vase motifs. The plumes are carved in relief. Mother-of-pearl rim. Gilded metal clasp. H.t. 27 cm-H.f. 13.5 cm (wear, small stains, accident to one strand, restorations)
