Tuxedo vest worn by the last Marquise de Belmont, née Posuel de Verneaux (1826-1891), widowed in 1857. The Marquise de Belmont ran an elegant salon at her home on Place du Palais-Bourbon, which was much sought-after by Parisian high society. Red woollen cloth and polychrome woven braid with the alliance coat of arms, the vest has five small silver buttons on the front with the alliance coat of arms. A few moth holes, but overall good condition [button I-964].
