ORLÉANS (Marie-Amélie, Queen of the French, Duchess of) [1782-1866] Sur : Epitres et évangiles, P., 1825, in-8 (225 x 145 mm), 430 pp. in full contemporary purplish-glazed calf, gilt fillets framing the boards, large cold-engraved cathedral plate on the boards, smooth spine with gilt title, cold-engraved plate with troubadour decorations and gilt fillets on the headpieces, gilt roulette on the edges and inside the boards, all edges gilt, signed THOUVENIN on the tail. Some minor rubbing, scattered foxing. The first endpaper bears in the upper left-hand corner the bookplate of Marie-Amélie de Bourbon-Sicile, then Duchess of Orléans, married in 1809 to Louis-Philippe d'Orléans, Duc d'Orléans (1773-1850) and first prince of the blood, both King and Queen of the French from 1830 to 1848. A fine "cathedral-style" copy by the master of the genre, bookbinder from 1813 to 1834. Rare provenance.
