Biography: In 1908, Nicolai Ivanovitch Kulbin (1868-1917) founded and financed the association "Le Triangle - groupe artistique et psychologique," becoming a major player in the Russian art world. He organized and participated in numerous exhibitions, including "Tendances actuelles" (1908), "Lien" (1908), and "Les impressionnistes" (1909), playing a key role in the formation of the Youth Union in 1910. Koulbine, who also wrote the essay "Musique libre" (Free Music) in 1909, was involved in the artistic debates of his time, and even attempted to deduce laws from devices measuring sensations. At the same time, he took part in the creation of the "Théâtre intime" with Vsevolod Meyerhold in 1910 and contributed to the preparation of the futuristic opera "Victoire sur le soleil" in 1913. His friendship with artist and writer Nicolas Evreïnoff was significant, and they collaborated on several artistic projects. Active in popularizing contemporary art, Koulbine also organized trips for prominent avant-garde figures, helping to spread innovative artistic ideas in St. Petersburg.
