Beautiful theatrical set. - Lot 209
Beautiful theatrical set. Probably for one of the characters in Giuseppe Verdi's opera Aida by Giuseppe Verdi, created in 1871 for Khedive Ismail pasha of Egypt at the Cairo Opera House. Italian work, late 19th century. Comprising a large necklace, a bodice brooch, a pair of earrings, a pair of wrist bracelets and a pair of anklets, in gilded metal with repoussé and finely chased Egyptian motifs. The set is preserved in its original shaped case, inside velvet and silk, inscribed: "A Mia Sorella (à ma soeur), September 4, 1883", surmounted by a crown of plenty. A few restorations, oxidation and age-related wear to the case, but overall good condition.
