Johann Josef Karl Henrici (1737 - 1823)
Turkish pleasures Oil on canvas Height : 67.7 cm - W. : 95.5 cm (small missing parts) Trained by his father, the artist traveled to Italy, particularly Venice, where he copied the great masters. Although he painted religious works that are still preserved in Tyrolean churches, the most original part of his work is his Turkish scenes. The Lubjana Academy of Music holds two of these, signed and dated 1786 (canvases, 68 x 96 cm). We should also mention the series of four canvases presented in Vienna in 2007 (Vienna, Dorotheum, April 24, 2007, canvases, 73 x 105 cm), as well as the two Oriental concert scenes from the former Paul Louis Weiller collection sold in Paris, Mes Gros et Delletrez on 5/10/2006, no. 39 (canvases 105 x 149cm).
