Sugar bowl " Argonaute " and its lid in porcelain of Sevres with silver plated metal mounting of the XIXth century Mark in green in a medallion S.48 for 1848, gilder's mark In the shape of a shell resting on a rectangular base, decorated with gold combs and nets, small chips, small wear L. : 23 cm. Notes: Our example is a version of the shape created in Sèvres in 1813. It was intended for the Trianon dairy in Versailles and the archives of the manufactory preserve a preparatory drawing of the profile of this shape and the model in plaster. One finds in the files of the manufacture of Sèvres, and more precisely in the registers of the decorated porcelains for the year 1848, in July, the following mention which relates to it very certainly: "1 sugar bowl argonaute, decoration in gold", evaluated at the price of 500 francs (MNS Vv5).
