Emperor Nicholas I of Russia (1796-1855) surrounded by his staff and advisors. Fine colored lithograph signed lower left "M. Adolphe", printed by Lemercier in Paris, depicting him with the members of his government, from left to right: General Liprandi, General Osten-Sacken, General Dannenberg, Prince Menchikoff, Admiral Ricord, Count Nesselrode, Czarevich Alexander (future Czar Alexander II), Grand Duke Michel Nicolaïévitch, Grand Duke Nicolas Nicolaïévitch Nicolaievitch, Grand Duke Constantin Nicolaievitch, Count Brock, General Luders, Marshal Paskévitch, General Rudiger and Prince Gortchakoff.
