Auguste MOLIN (1821-1890), dit Auguste de Molin
Two Anglo-French tricolors in full race, in a landscape with stormy sky. Oil on panel. 21,5 x 28,5 cm. Signed lower left: A. de. Molin. Animal painter from Lausanne, having been part of the Durand-Ruel "stable" in Paris and London, he participated, in 1874, in the "First Exhibition of Impressionist Painters", with Nadar, who painted his portrait. A lover of Renoir's works, of which he owned several paintings, his body of work is however radically different, preferring to represent scenes of hunting in good society.
