Léon Rouvenat was at the height of his fame in the years 1850 - 1870, in the middle of the Second Empire. His competitors were Boucheron, Fontenay, Mellerio, Massin, Froment Meurice and Alphonse Fouquet. He caused a sensation at the World's Fair where he collected great prizes, medals and prestigious clients. In 1867, the Empress Eugenie bought a magnificent lilac brooch with diamonds. The press is dithyrambic: The reputation of this well known house, dispenses with any comment, it is with him that one must go to seek taste, simplicity, perfect harmony. This did not prevent the house from dying out just before the First World War. Léon Rouvenat was part of the general movement of industrialization in France. He opened a huge workshop with a glass ceiling where gold beater, lapidary, goldsmith, and polisher were brought together. A first! A sort of Aristide Boucicaut of the jewelry industry, he initiated many social measures, such as vetenary funds. He will provide the Empress Eugenie, the King of Prussia, the viceroy of Egypt, the Shah of Persia... (Sandrine Merle, the french jewelry post 07 February 2022)
