Pair of bronze busts very finely chiseled... - Lot 133 - Coutau-Bégarie
Pair of bronze busts very finely chiseled and gilded, featuring Philip Augustus with a large ermine collar and Francis I in armor and wearing a feathered hat. The busts resting on a square pedestal molded and titled. H. 10,5 and 9,8 cm late 17th - early 18th century These two small busts follow the historicist trend of the end of the reign of Louis XIV, they can be compared stylistically with the funerary monument of the d'Aligre family in the church of Saint Gemain l'Auxerrois by Laurent Magnier (1619 - 1700). See also the bust of Paul Phelypeaux de Pontchartrain, from the same church.
