Elegant white jade group taking the form of a covered vase of baluster form with decoration in light relief in the archaic style of stylized lotus petals at the foot, a frieze of Taotie masks on the body, a decoration of banana leaves going up on the neck, this one is flanked by two handles taking the form of birds. The lid's handle is formed by a lotus flower bud. The right part is carved in high relief with branches of leaves and lotus flowers in which a crane is moving. Height : 14 cm Width : 17 cm Depth : 4,5 cm Slightly missing Provenance : - Former collection of Vice-Admiral Edgar Eugène Humann (1838-1914), chief of staff of the Chief of Staff of the Navy who served in the China Seas. - By descent.
