Pair of sconces in chased and gilded bronze. The plate, decorated with large acanthus leaves and flowers, holds two asymmetrical arms of light with scrolls, foliage and ears of wheat. The wicks present different decorations of flowers and staples. 18th century style H. 43 - L. 20 cm - D. 15 cm This model of wall lamp comes from the creations of Andre-Charles Boulle illustrated by Pierre-Jean Mariette in the Planche VIII of the Nouveaux desseins de meubles et ouvrages de bronze et de marqueterie inventés et gravés par André-Charles Boulle. Different pairs of the same model are preserved in important collections, notably at the Palace of Versailles in the second anteroom of the Marquise de Pompadour and in the dining room of the apartments of the Countess du Barry.
