Attribué à Edouard Lièvre (1829-1886)
Vase forming pot pourri in ceramic of China eggplant flamed, the mount in chased and gilded bronze, it rests on three feet with legs and lions' heads, the belt applied with lizards, the lid with two grips in winged chimeras, the frieze with engraved decoration of foliage in the lower part, openwork in the upper part, the grip in the shape of salamander. About 1880 H.: 31cm (small restorations) Our vase illustrates perfectly the eclecticism in vogue at the end of the 19th century. The richness of the ornaments of the bronze frame synthesizes the attraction for the past with quotations to the Renaissance, as well as the fascination for the Far East through an exotic and fantastic bestiary. If our vase does not bear any signature, the quality of the chasing and the completeness of the ornamental repertoire allow an attribution to Edouard Lièvre.
