NAPOLEON IER, EMPEREUR DES FRANÇAIS (1796-1821).
Autograph piece signed "Napoleon", dated August 1, 1806, from Mainz, sent to his adopted son, Prince Eugene de Beauharnais (1781-1824), then viceroy of Italy since 1805, 1 page, in-folio, watermarked. Good condition. My son, pay great attention to arrest the brigands who commit excesses on the roads, forests. If it is necessary a mobile column & military commissioners, this brigandage does no honor to the gendarmerie. I am leaving Mayenne in an hour for Würzburg. Your affectionate father". History: Interesting historical document written by the emperor two weeks before the battle of Jena. It comes from a private German collection in Hesse, bought from Auktionshaus Stargerdt in 1982 by the current owner.
