ROUGET GEORGES (1783-1869). Bust portrait of King Charles X (1757-1836) in coronation costume. Oil on canvas, oval shape, preserved in an old carved and gilded wooden frame of the 19th century. Good condition. H. 73 cm - L. 59 cm. Reference: a similar portrait was commissioned by the King's household on June 30, 1825 for the sum of 600 francs (Arch. Nat. 03.1415; Arch. M.N., 2DD2. 68) for Marie-Gabrielle Gasnier de l'Espinay (1742-1834) in gratitude for her action during the Vendée wars; it was completed in August of the same year (see Alain Pougetoux, " Georges Rouget, pupil of Louis David ", p. 65, n°70).
