Portrait of Louise-Françoise de La Baume Le Blanc, Duchess of La Vallière (1644-1710), first official mistress of King Louis XIV. Oil on panel, preserved in an antique giltwood frame. Bears on the back a label with the following handwritten inscription: "Louise Françoise de La Baume Le Blanc, duchess of La Vallière had a son from Louis XIV, named duc de Vermandois. In 1675, she became a Carmelite nun, and in 1710, she died under the name of Louise de la miséricorde. On learning of the death of her son, she replied: ''I must mourn the birth of this son, even more than his death''. Good condition, wear and tear to the frame. Sight : H. : 35 cm - W. : 26 cm.
