Large in-folio, 35,5 x 53,5cm, [2] ff, 14 +20 (numbered 23-42) +128 +30 +IV pp. 11 +60 (numbered 59) +16 pl. second half of the nineteenth century binding with glazed fawn calf spine decorated with gilt designs. First edition of this magnificent work illustrated with 87 superb plates printed in colors with the doll and sometimes heightened. They are finely engraved by César Macret after the drawings of Pauline Knip, born Courcelles, talented student of J. Barraband. A very nice copy, wide margins and very fresh. Crack in one of the spines. Tiny marginal spotting.
