(out of 73), contemporary binding in green half-calf with corners, spines decorated with faux-nerve and gilt designs. First edition in-4. The illustration includes 144 plates (out of 145) of parrots, engraved after Jacques Barraband (1768-1809) and finely printed in colors with a doll. A good copy. From the library of the English ornithologist Frederick DuCane Godman (1834-1919), president of the British Ornithologists' Union, with his engraved bookplate. His collection of over 230,000 species (birds and insects) is held in the British Museum. Plate 131 missing. Old handwritten ex-dono in the corner of the titles. Slight foxing. Bindings rubbed. Corner of one leaf mended (pp. 169-170 of volume I).
