LIBRARY OF TSAR NICOLAS II, THEN LIBRARY OF PRINCE FELIX YUSUPOFF AND HIS WIFE BORN PRINCESS IRINA ALEXANDROVNA OF RUSSIA. KARTSOFF Georges, [BELOVEZHSKAIA PUSHCHA] - The Bialowieza forest, a historical study of contemporary hunting and imperial forest hunting, published by the F. A. Marx, St. Petersburg, 1903, text in Russian, beautiful period binding in green morocco, decorated on the upper part of the front cover with the title in gold letters, spine decorated, title in gold letters, interior in ivory colored moiré silk taffeta stamped with the monogram of Emperor Nicholas II in gold letters (H.) under a royal crown (because this domain belonging to the sovereign is in Polish land and he is king of Poland) framed by a gilded foliage frieze, folio format (365x295 mm), 414 pages, gilt edges, illustrated with a colored frontispiece, 22 plates (heliogravures) out of text, including a portrait of emperor Nicolas II, 137 illustrations (autotypes), 40 drawings (zincographies), 9 maps and 4 colored technical drawings drawn and signed by M. A. Zichy, N. A. Samokiche, K. Y. Krizhitsky, V. I. Navozoff, R. V. Frents, A. S. Khrenoff, etc. Wear to the corners, foxing, but quite good overall condition. Provenance: former collection of Emperor Nicholas II (1868-1918), from his private library, then by succession to his sister the Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna of Russia (1875-1960). It was then passed on to her daughter, Princess Irina Alexandrovna Youssoupoff (1895-1970), and has been preserved until today in the latter's descendants.
