The Red Baron, Manfred Von Richthofen. Exceptional... - Lot 150 - Coutau-Bégarie
The Red Baron, Manfred Von Richthofen. Exceptional set of plates drawn by Arthur Piroton for the series "les histoires de l'oncle Paul" published in Spirou. The publication of this story begins in Le Spirou n°1802 of October 26, 1972 on a scenario of Octave Joly. Les belles histoires de l'Oncle Paul is an educational series created in 1951 by Jean Michel Charlier and illustrated by Eddy Paape for Spirou, and continued by many authors and artists. Arthur Piroton, historical draftsman of the Dupuis editions, is also recognized for his series Jess Long, with Maurice Tillieux in the scenario. His style, inspired by both the Franco-Belgian school and the graphics of American comics, is of great precision and finds here its apogee, with a technicality and exceptional inking, especially on the boxes showing the German fighter plane Fokker in full action. This story was then published in the album "Les Mystérieux Chevaliers de l'air - Une Guerre extraordinaire entre Ciel et Terre" tome II of the series "L'Histoire en Bandes dessinées" published by Dupuis in 1974.Manfred von Richtofen - Le Baron Rouge "Comment on devient un As" (Episode 1) Plates 1 to 4, signature of the drawer on the last plate. Indications of colors on the back of the plates. India ink on paper. Size of each plate : 53 x 42 cm. Published in the Spirou 1802 of October 26, 1972.
