At the end: "Imprimé par Benoist". In-4, full morocco, triple fillet on the covers, small spandrels, decorated bands, spine with decorated nerves. Endpapers in morocco, large interior roulette. Gilt edges. Small rubs and stains without gravity. [4], 212 ff, privilege, completed printing. Beautiful edition, edited by Caveiller (One also meets this edition under the name of Vincent Sertenas). It is in 1558 that appears Histoire des amans fortunez, first limited and truncated version of the unfinished collection of Marguerite de Navarre. In 1559, thanks to Claude Gruget, an edition of 72 texts appears. This original edition will be followed by a second one in format in-12. In 1560 appears the republication of the original edition. It is a copy of this one that we present. These editions are, according to Tchemerzine, very rare. The "definitive" edition was not published until 1853. Leather bookplate with the arms of Baron Roger Portalis.
