MOVADO ERMETO
Silver pocket watch (935 ‰), sheathed in stingray. Case with sliding closure winding the movement spring. Silvered dial, painted Arabic numerals, railroad minute track. Silver back (935 ‰) numbered 205251. Mechanical chronometer movement signed Movado. Original crown with floral motif. With its storage box, which also serves as a desk display. Dimensions: 72 x 33 mm (open) and 47 x 33 mm (closed) Circa 1930 "The Ermeto watch is worn without more care than a penknife or lighter. Suspended in its massive sliding caps, it resists the most violent shocks. Hermetically sealed, it is protected from dust, humidity and sudden temperature changes. The automatic winding system of the Ermeto "Non-Stop" model eliminates the tedium of daily winding and forgetfulness: since it winds itself each time you look at the time, it is impossible to force the winding mechanism." Ermeto advertisement, circa 1930 Movado's Ermeto watch was developed following the filing of a patent in 1926 by the famous Huguenin Frères company for a revolutionary and avant-garde pocket watch winding system. This "automatic winding" system enabled the user to wind the barrel spring at the same time by sliding a system that revealed the time. Huguenin needed a watchmaking partner to develop this new case system. After consultation, Movado answered his call.
