JAMIN, Paul (1853-1903),
French painter. L.A.S. illustrated with eight small pen-and-ink drawings. Paris, October 15, 1885. 3 pp. in-8. Double sheet of checked paper. Slight beginning of a split at the central horizontal fold, without damage. Paul Jamin, just missed the visit of his architect friend Henri Blot and ran to an antique shop to buy a small Louis XVI marquise. He describes the condition of the piece of furniture, the restorations to be made to it and explains that he met, during this race, Galeron, who had just married a deaf and blind woman. "She is a rather ugly blonde, unfortunately visibly blind. At each step, he spoke in her ear [...]. It is really necessary to have the instinct of devotion! Finally it is his business!", etc. The painter illustrated all his words: himself finding the business card of his friend while returning home, himself running an errand, still him at the antique shop with the marquise, then both discussing the said furniture while smoking, a cupid, the couple formed by Galeron and his young wife, the said wife very ugly and blind and to finish, he drew a good handshake, promised in the mail.
