HUYSMANS, Joris-Karl (1848-1907).
Set of 4 pieces: 1 L.A.S., 2 B.A.S. and 1 C.A.S., addressed to the jurist and friend of naturalists Gabriel Thyébaut (1854-1922). [Paris], 1893. 4 pp. in-12 and in-12 oblong. About his mistress, Anna Meunier: "It is done, the poor girl is in St Anne [...] happy almost that it is finished, because I can't take it anymore. Now, can you make sure that Anne stays at St. Anne's, because there I can at least see her and give her what she needs. I beg you to do everything possible to prevent her being sent to the provinces, where she would be abandoned and without resources. I do not beg your pardon, my dear Gabriel, for coming to you while you have a little joy, to bring you this sad request, for I have known you too long not to know that you pity me and that you will not resent me [...]". He then communicates the address of his mistress. Three months later Huysmans warmly thanks his friend for his help "The poor girl is as well as can be. She is, moreover, losing her mind more and more. It is very sad to say, but it is the happiest thing, because at least she does not suffer much from her internment [...]".
