[CHEMISTRY]. D'ARCET, Jean (1724-1801) & Jean-Pierre-Joseph D'ARCET (1777-1844), French chemists, father and son: the first was director of the Sèvres porcelain factory. Set of 3 documents relating to their work and functions. -D'Arcet père : P.A.S. Paris, 22 vendémiaire year 6 [13 October 1797]. 1 p. in-4. Contresignature to be identified. Interesting document where it is question of the fusible alloy to which d'Arcet gave his name. "The four coins of five francs, and the ecu of ten constitutional pounds that the administration sent [sic] yesterday for essaïes as suspected to be false: 1° they do not have the weight to much. 2° as for the title, they do not contain silver; it is only that which is provided by the lead and the bismuth which the coins contained with the Tin [...]". -D'Arcet fils: set of 2 L.A.S. February 19, 1826 and May 6 [1842]. 3 pp. in-4 and 1 p. in-8. An address on the verso of the second sheet with postal marks. Interesting missive relating to the sanitation works carried out by D'arcet and in particular the disgorgement by hydrochloric acid of the pipe leading the water from Arceuil to the Sainte-Anne farm. Document mounted in a strong paper frame, wetness, holes without missing in the text, small median tear. Stamp of the Freund Deschamps collection. The second letter is addressed to Loisel, from the Monnaie de Paris. An engraved portrait of D'Arcet père, by Ambroise Tardieu, is enclosed.
