XVIIIth c. | HERBARIUM - BULLIARD, Pierre - Herbarium of France, or complete collection of the indigenous plants of this kingdom; with their anatomical details, their properties, and their uses in medicine P., chez l'auteur, Didot jeune, Debure et Belin, 1780-[1792]. 6 vols regrouping two volumes in one (i.e. 12 tomes) plus 3 additives, small in-folio, half basane spotted, paper boards, smooth spine decorated, title pieces. 1st volume: 96 plates, 2nd vol. of 192 plates (lacking plate 182); 3rd vol. of 288 plates; 4th vol. of 384 plates; 5th vol. of 480 plates; 6th vol. of 560 plates (of which 4 plates placed in the vol. devoted to mushrooms). Attached are: The dictionary of Botany containing 10 plates - History of the mushrooms of France (Herbarium of France, 2nd division, 1792) Poisonous plants, (Herbarium of France, 1st division, 1792) Complete set except for one plate. Very good condition of the set and in particular of the plates mostly colored. Bulliard (1742-1793) was his own printer. He mixed the colored inks with a lot of delicacy and precision, a lot of technique, which allows the set to keep freshness and vitality of colors.
