CHARLES XIV JEAN, roi de Suède (1763-1844)
Autograph letter signed "Charles Jean", dated from his headquarters in Bologna, February 25, 1814, addressed to General Baron de Winzingerode (Ferdinand von Winzingerode (1770-1818)), in-4, 1 page, text in French, with red wax seal. Some foxing and folding, but overall good condition. Text: "I received your letter from Reims on February 20. I thank you for the details that you give me, and although I am getting closer to you I beg you to continue to take (the same way), of whatever little importance the events that you will have to learn to me are. I write to General Woronzow so that he will accelerate his march and I announce to him the arrival of Lutrow's corps, which I have relieved in front of Juliers by two thousand men of General Putlitz's corps. I give orders to the latter to go with the remainder of his corps to relieve in front of Wesel the troops which you left there; so that they can go by Aix-la-Chapelle, Liège and Namur, to Dinant where they will receive new orders from you. I renew to you, my dear General, the assurance of my feelings and pray God that he has you in his holy and worthy guard".
