Autograph letter signed "Charlotte," Stockholm, March 25, 1803, addressed to a member of a royal family, in-4°, 4 ½ pages, text in French. Good condition. See illustration on page 72. Text: "It is with the feelings of the most lively gratitude, my dear cousin, that I received the letter that you have been kind enough to send me from Helsingborg, you cannot doubt that the assurances of your friendship are very pleasant, and that I will never, not ever forget the testimonies that you have been kind enough to give us. Your departure to leave an emptiness these days here, the last evening more than all, that you left us my dear cousin, will never fade from my memory, the regrets that you left, are deep, that joined to the feelings of friendships and ineffaceable gratitude. You will forgive me, my dear cousin, for not having given you news sooner, but on the last occasion I was prevented from doing so, being then extremely busy. Many thanks for the interest you are willing to show me for my fault, and the apologies you are sending me in this regard, which is very flattering for me (...) as the news from here my dear cousin may interest you, I can tell you (...) that since your departure we have had a splendid celebration for the Queen's birthday (...) Madame ... who had been married a few days before was present, as was Madame Erustrom. The wedding was very quiet, with all the usual ceremonies, and consequently (...) at the torches, the Queen Mother invited only the close relatives of the bride and groom, not the King, nor the Queen, nor the Duke or myself, there were only the relatives, but the people attached to the court of the Queen Mother (...) the Queen only appeared at the wedding blessing (...) the bride was pretty, but I doubt it (...). The balls and pleasures since your departure my dear cousin are interrupted and Stockholm, so brilliant during your stay, is now only dull (...) You already know the news that the sister of the queen, according to what is said about this husband at the Palatine, is the princess Amélie, the gazettes speak about it as a very desired thing (...)".
