CUP AND ITS SAUCER IN PORCELAIN MANUFACTURE DARTE, PARIS, 1812. Decorated with a polychrome portrait signed with the initials of the artist C. A. representing the general Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte (1763-1844), future king of Sweden, according to the portrait of François Gérard, painted in 1811, on a matt and burnished gold background. On the back appears a large blue cartouche decorated with gold military trophies. Cup of the form known as "Jasmine", with flared and curved neck, handle raised in crook decorated with an eagle's head, interior with gold background decorated with a laurel garland. The saucer is slightly flared and rests on a heel decorated with a garland of oak leaves on a blue background and bordered by a wide gold net. Mark on the back of the saucer in red letters "Darte Frères à Paris", circa 1812. Very good general condition, wear of time to the saucer. H. : 12 cm - Diam. : 10 cm and 16 cm.
