A. GARIULO Figlio, attribué à - Lot 378
A. GARIULO Figlio, attribué à The Floralies Painting in fine marquetry of various precious woods and painted with a procession scene representing five young women carrying flowers, paying tribute to Flora in Ancient Rome. The frame is decorated with grotesques inspired by Pompeii and the Golden House. Italy, mid 19th century. D. : 96 x 76 cm. In the middle of the 19th century, there was a return to Pompeian taste. The Pompeian House, the private residence of Prince Jerome Napoleon, built for the Universal Exhibition of 1855, became a typical example of this fashion. Our painting uses the same decorative schemes as the interior of this palace.
