Presumed portrait of the Duchess of Narbonne Oval portrait of a young woman in a three-quarter view with a blue ribbon in her hair. Pastel. Bears the signature L.G 1786 in the lower left corner. Stucco and gilded wood frame with pearl frieze. D. : 21 x 16,5 cm Francoise de Chalus, Duchess of Narbonne-Lara, lady of La Bove (1734-1821) was one of the ladies-in-waiting of Madame Adélaïde de France, daughter of Louis XV. She became the mistress of Louis XV, King of France (1715-1774), in 1749. Last representative of the Chalus-Lembron family, she sold all her possessions to settle at the King's court in 1788. She emigrated during the French Revolution.
