École VENITIENNE du XVIIe siècle
Portrait of Roxelane (wife of Suleiman the Magnificent) or Princess Mihrimah (1522-1578), known as Cameria (daughter of Suleiman the Magnificent) Canvas 112 x 86.5 cm Vasari reports that Titian was invited to paint portraits of Suleiman's favorite wife and daughter Cameria, circa 1552-1560, an indication echoed by Ridolfi in 1648. There are several versions of Titian's studio of this lost portrait. One of them is in the Courtauld Institute in London (Harold E. Wethey, The painting of Titian, II The portraits, London, Phaidon, 1971, pp. 190-191, fig.296-270), others attributed to Sofosniba Anguissola (Montpellier, Fabre museum, see Benjamin Couilleaux, "Peintures italiennes du musée Fabre de Montpellier. Catalog raisonné", Milan, Silvana Editoriale, 2020, p.299, n°9).
