Tripod candlestick in ebony and silver and gilt appliques, resting on console feet ended by flattened balls, the shaft with knot, the molded and turned tapered. The whole is applied with silver and vermeil 800°° elements with winged cherubs, horns of plenty and garlands of fruits punctuated with daisies. South Germany, second half of the 17th century. H. : 36 cm (accidents, missing elements). Notes: Our candle stick is a rare example of the use of these silver sconces on a core of ebony or blackened wood. This type of decoration is more frequently found on cabinets, as can be seen in the productions of the cabinetmaker Melchior Baumgartner with the help of the silversmith Hans Lencker
