A finely chased and gilded bronze clock with a rotating circle, representing a covered urn decorated with a large pine cone grip, the handles with scrolling Greek motifs supported by lion masks holding a ring in their mouths, around the lid a snake coils, the tongue set with Rhine stones indicating the time, the vase rests on a half fluted column with asperges decorated with four garlands of oak leaves held by bows of ribbons, the base decorated with crossed ribbons and a frieze of laurel leaves on a square base. Signed Lepaute on the back of the base. Transitional period Louis XV Louis XVI. H. : 47 cm, W. : 20 cm, D. : 20 cm (missing the balance wheel and the key, mechanism in the state) An identical model, but in a treatment inked with enamel is preserved in the Petit Palais, Musée des Beaux-Arts de la ville de Paris (ODUT1419)
