Ferdinand VII, King of Spain, circa 1810 Uncut fan paper, engraved and stenciled in color. In the center, a profile portrait of King Ferdinand of Spain (1784-1833), under a royal crown, and within a frame of light rays, English and Spanish flags and his first name in a phylactery. Below, the rebus "NO 8 DO" which reads "No madeja do", referring to the installation of the royal court in Seville from the reign of Ferdinand VII. Below, the reference of the engraver "Published as the act directs by/C. Stoper Lambeth Road London". The arms of the royal family of England on the left, and that of the royal family of Spain on the right recall Wellington's support of the Spanish throne against Napoleon I. With a maxim in Spanish "Lauriles Para /Los Valientes" [Laurels for the valiant]; and on the right "La Cruz es mi Consuelo/Mi Espada Mi Defensa" [The cross is my counsel/Sword my defense].
