"Nec Pluribus Impar", circa 1785-1790 Folded fan, the double sheet of engraved paper enhanced with gouache of a succession of characters from the Paris street show or Italian comedy such as Scaramouche, Pantalon, Harlequin, "Le Rémouleur" wearing a red cap or "Madame Gigogne" designating in the puppet theater a woman who has many children. The leaf is titled "Nec Pluribus Impar", the Latin motto of King Louis XIV. In the lower part of the sheet, various couplets. Dumb reverse. Mounting in exotic wood. The head enhanced by a fine bone plate, the plumes underlined by a bone net. H.t. 28,5 cm-H.f. 13,3 cm
