Ornithologia Danica, published by Forfatterens, Copenhagen, 1851 and 1854, folio (395x255 mm), illustrated with 65 coloured plates out of text representing 304 species of birds, followed by 35 additional plates out of text representing 252 species, gilt edges, beautifully bound in red morocco, title in gold lettering, decorated in the centre of the second board with the intertwined nomogram of Princess Alexandra of Denmark, Queen of Great Britain in gold lettering under a royal crown framed by a stylized frieze of arabesques, spine with ornamented ribs, title in gold lettering. Text in Danish. Time wear, as is. Provenance: former collection of Princess Alexandra of Denmark (1844-1925), daughter of King Christian IX and wife of King Edward VII of Great Britain, then by descent from her nephew, Prince Axel of Denmark (1888-1964)
