LOUIS-PHILIPPE, prince d'Orléans, duc d'Orléans (1869-1926)
* Albumen photographic portrait mounted on cardboard, representing the prince posing on the edge of an armchair, with autograph dedication signed: "To General de Löwenthal, military and friendly greeting, all heart, Philippe duc d'Orléans, Conciergerie 21 June 1890", preserved in its original gilded wooden frame topped with a royal crown. Accidents, as is. Sight: H.: 13 cm - W.: 8 cm. Frame: H.: 29 cm - W.: 19.5 cm History: this portrait was offered by the prince as a thank you for the good treatment he received during his imprisonment at the Conciergerie. This imprisonment followed his arrival in Paris, despite the law of exile applied to the princes of France. The Duke of Orleans, then 21 years old, wanted to do his military service, like any French citizen of his age. He was arrested on 2 February 1890 and placed in detention at the Conciergerie while awaiting trial. He was finally tried 10 days later and taken to Clairvaux prison, where he was incarcerated until 4 June 1890 and deported to the French border. The prince never saw France again
