BELT THAT BELONGED TO EMIR ABDELKADER (1808-1883). Composed of tubular coral beads, alternated with medals in vermeil, coral amulets and openwork piece decorated with a crescent moon in gilded metal, ending with an eagle head carved in coral. A photographic portrait signed Furne fils & Tournier, in Paris, representing him in profile, after an engraving. Wear of time, as is. Berber work, mid 19th century. L. : 109 cm. History: according to family legend, this belt belonged to the Emir Abdelkader, and was passed on to his family by Prince Henri, Duke of Aumale (1822-1897). It was given to the prince during the capture of La Smala on 16 May 1843.
