Flowered baskets & Flowered baskets with birds very probably unique works, circa 1925. Exceptional 3-piece living room, composed of a pair of armchairs and a sofa, in moulded, ribbed and richly carved cherry wood. The pair of armchairs with full sides and finely carved decorations of the first title, with sabre-type and ribbed front legs, with backs slightly crowned and with armrests simulating scrolls. Upholstery and tapestry not original. Condition of use. Height 102 cm - Width 63 cm - Depth 55 cm The sofa with full sides and finely carved decorations of the second title, with front legs of olive type and ribbed, the backrest crowned in a light gendarme hat, armrests simulating scrolls and stylized floral motifs carved in fall on the sides and in reserve in the lower parts of the sides. Upholstery and tapestries not of origin Condition of use. Height 107 cm - Length 200 cm - Depth 70 cm. Provenance and history: - Dr Jean d'Herbécourt, Paris. Commissioned in 1908-09, for his Parisian mansion, the famous set designed by Henri Bellery-Desfontaines (1867-1909), in which were included four important paintings by Henri Martin (1860-1943), and now preserved in the Musée Départemental de l'Oise in Beauvais (inv. nos. 74.4.1 to 18 and 74.24.1 to 4). For this commission, Henri Rapin, who was close to Bellery-Desfontaines, was responsible for the design of the woodwork and the door with stained glass. So, it is quite naturally that Dr. Jean d'Herbécourt turned to Henri Rapin to refurbish his salon in the 1920s. - Furniture remained in the descendants of Dr. Jean d'Herbécourt since its creation.
