BILAL, Enki (1951)
Les Phalanges de l'Ordre Noir (The Phalanxes of the Black Order), plate 29. Pencil and Indian ink on paper. Signed in pencil at the bottom right, publisher's stamp Dargaud on the back, Pilote n°54. Enki Bilal, a French author, cartoonist and film director born in Belgrade, winner of the Angoulême Grand Prix in 1987, is no longer to be found. The fourth collaboration between Bilal and Christin, pre-published in Pilote then published in 1979 by Dargaud, Les Phalanges de l'Ordre noir, a dense and violent geopolitical story inspired by the Spanish Civil War, was followed by another political thriller, "Partie de Chasse", in 1983. We note the presence of the obelisk of Christopher Columbus of Barcelona on a square. Dimensions: 50x38 cm. Framed.
